Luminary Designs is a small business local to Vancouver Island. The brand was originally named Karamakesjewelry, however they now have the loved and known name of Luminary Designs. At Luminary Designs they aim to create vintage inspired clothing with a soft feminine feel. Not only do they design fashion pieces but also, a variety of jewelry. Covering many different styles. They aim to create a piece meant for everyone.

About The Designer

Kara Beach

The face behind Luminary Designs is Kara Beach, a committed fashion designer, jewelry designer, and creative. Throughout her life, Kara has worked in many mediums of art such as; sketching, painting, watercolour, pottery, needle felting, photography, gouache, digital illustration, floral design, jewelry design, fashion design, and many more. Kara has been creating art from a very young age, her passion has always leaned towards her creative side. As she continues into her career after graduating from Pacific Design Academy in the Fashion Design program, she plans to continue building her business Luminary Designs in hopes that one day she owns a boutique filled with all of her loved designs and creations.

Artist Statement

Kara Beach applies the technique of handcrafted clothing to the creation of new vintage inspired pieces. Anyone can design, but to design in a realm that you love is something truly inspiring. For Kara that is vintage clothing, covered in lace, cute trims, small ruffles, all tied together with delicate sewing. The details in these old garments are unfortunately often overlooked, but in her clothing she desires for these details to be featured. She wants people to notice all the handcrafted details and design choices which she includes in her garments. Lastly, Kara aims to inspire those who miss the way vintage clothing used to fit and feel. When clothes used to be made with natural fibres and fit correctly. As we watch fast fashion rule the clothing world, she wants to inspire those who plan to leave a positive impact on the world with their designs.
